Hello, I am Anthony
I am originally from Blackpool in the UK. After leaving school, I went straight in to working full time in horseracing. I was lucky enough to work for some great racehorse trainers in the UK, such as G.S. Rees (the first woman to complete Aintree Grand National), Sir Mark Prescott - the legend of Heath House in Newmarket, and Jeremy Noseda, a multiple group winning trainer. I was fortunate enough to have had a spin on some fantastic horses such as Alba nova, Confidential Lady, Massfi, No Refuge, Pedrillo, Sixties Icon, Wilko, Aaraffa, Sander Camillo, Sodilers Tale, Simply perfect. Horses which had been aimed at Derbys, Oaks, St Ledgers, Guineas, in the UK, Ireland, France and Italy and Breeders cups.
In 2008, I made the decision to move to Austalia, and after 2 years working on cattle stations and a short stint in New Zealand with Murry and Bijorn Baker, I spent about 4 years riding trackwork for Lee and Anthony Freedman on the Mornington Peninsula, and then at Flemington. Once I had my residency, I returned to the Mornington Peninsula, and spent the next 9 years riding for Matt Laurie, John McCardle, Tony Noonan, Rob Blacker and currenlty Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young at Cranbourne. Again, in that time I have been very lucky to have seen and thrown a leg over some nice horses, such as Nom De Jue, Lucas Cranach, Master of Design, Boban, Mawingo, Escardo, Master Reset.
However, during all this, I have had issues with my weight. I have always been a solid character, probably better suited to rugby than the saddle, and as such I have sometimes struggled with weight stigma, eating disorders, disordered eating and the mental battles that come with it.
It was the constant thought of needing to be lighter to be accepted or to have my ability tied to my weight, that led me down the merry-go round of diets and excessive exercise. That said, it was through this journey that I discovered my passion for fitness & nutrition. Which led me to gaining qualifications in personal training, strength and conditioning, massage therapy, eventually leading to food and nutrition and finally becoming a dietitian and sport dietitian.
I understand that weight management is sometimes a mental battle, and that sometimes your livelihood relies on it.
